Legal At Last
Well, it’s been a fun ride while it lasted, but it had to end sometime. Yes, my days of working on a student visa or a student visa which apparently never officially existed, or a tourist visa, or a business visa are over. I am now sitting on a work visa. I have been here on F, L, X, and now Z visas…. just going down the list it seems. G is for transit through, J is for journalists and C is for airline crew members… so, unless I change my career drastically, it seems as if the only one left to go for is a D… permanent residency.
It’s a good thing… and it means that I can actually continue to work here without any troubles or worries now. Issued one day after my F visa from HK expired, and I have to run down to re-register with the police… who are located in an impossible-to-find place.
Work has been good and getting better. More pay would be nice, but I have to be honest with myself here. I am really just starting, sure, it’s been a few months… long months, but I am still too Junior to command the kind of salary that I would eventually like. Manage my projects, make my connections, refine my skills, and climb the ladder… it’s the only thing I can do and I actually enjoy my job, so it’s not a bad thing. Doing my best to carve a place in this country for myself, and everyday it seems a bit easier to do.
